As in many Native American Nations, drums have been a sacred part of the Carrier culture for many thousands of years. It takes a very special person to carry a drum, one must show respect, handle themselves well and walk a good road.
One must know the tribal songs and be able to sing them well, because the songs which are sung are sacred to Native people.
Drums are used to communicate, within an Indian Nation, with the ancestors, or to send prayers to the Creator.
